About YIT
Engineering education and technical skills have tremendously impacted the evolution of mankind and the world. At the same time, the current scenario of engineering education is not encouraging for the underprivileged students, who have the desire but not the finances to support their dreams.
Understanding this gap in demand and supply, with respect to grooming of technical skills, Yashaswi Group founded the Yashaswi Institute of Technology in 2009. The idea was to create specific skill driven courses that fulfill the needs of industries and nurture the necessary talent for the same.
Headquartered in Pune, but with a growing field of operations across India, Yashaswi Institute of Technology (YIT), has created a skilled pool of talent for different engineering industries, which has translated into more trained workforce, in general.
Learn and Earn
Leading the way for YIT’s efforts in the field of technical education and skilling, is its first of its kind scheme in India- Learn & Earn. With globalisation creating a greater demand for skilled manpower, YIT has stepped in with this innovative initiative, where the institute collaborates with the industry to create need-specific courses across mechanical, electrical, industrial and telecommunication engineering domains. The Learn & Earn Scheme by YIT is affiliated to Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU).
Students who qualify certain eligibility criteria are given on-the-job training with a specific industry partner. While students are paid stipends, at the end of the training module, the industry gets skilled technicians who can fulfill specific duties on the shop floor.
In 2010, the Government of Maharashtra approved Learn & Earn as India’s first skilling scheme initiated by a private institute. Currently, more than 9000 students are making the most of the Learn & Earn scheme at 136 industries across Maharashtra, namely, Tata, Mahindra & Mahindra, General Motors, Hyundai, Cummins etc.
