Yashaswi GroupAcknowledges the Apprenticeship Act Amendments.

On September 11, 2025, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and the Government of India (GOI) jointly announced a few Amendments (rules) to the existing Apprenticeship Act, 1961. This set of new rules will enable Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen their business.

Pune is home to India’s leading industrial and educational hub, and according to a Times of India article, in 2019, the Pune region accounted for 2.14 lakh of the state’s 9.86 lakh MSMEs. As we are all aware, MSMEs in this region primarily operate in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, engineering, automotive, electronics, and chemicals sectors. These MSMEs face recurring challenges, including intense competition, inadequate infrastructure, a shortage of skilled labour, and complex compliance and regulatory issues. These reforms are promising and could significantly improve the ease of doing business in Pune and across India.

Yashaswi Group is committed to India’s broader vision of strengthening industry-led skill development by providing youth with On-The-Job Training in their chosen trades. The amendments to the Apprenticeship Act reflect a forward-looking approach that bridges the gap between education and industry requirements. By simplifying processes, these rules are encouraging more organisations to enrol in this act. The government is poised to create a framework where both businesses and young talent can grow together

The revised provisions of the Apprenticeship Act aim to address these concerns by making it easier for companies to engage apprentices, streamline documentation, and improve operational flexibility. This is expected to encourage more MSMEs to adopt apprenticeship models as part of their workforce development strategy.

Yashaswi Group, Pune, is India’s First Third-Party Aggregator (TPA) under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and has been actively supporting industries in implementing apprenticeship programs. By assisting organisations with apprentice sourcing, mobilisation, training, compliance support, and documentation, Yashaswi Group enables businesses, especially MSMEs, to participate in the apprenticeship environment with a simplified process.

We believe that the amendments could play a crucial role in expanding apprenticeship adoption in cities like Pune, where industries are constantly evolving and require a steady pipeline of skilled talent. For young people, entering the workforce through apprenticeships provides an opportunity to gain practical exposure, earn while they learn, and develop industry-relevant skills.

With Pune’s dynamic MSME sector and growing focus on skill-based employment, the amendments to the Apprenticeship Act are expected to further strengthen the city’s workforce while promoting sustainable growth for businesses and aspiring professionals alike.
