Pune, August 20, 2025 – The International Institute of Management Science (IIMS), in collaboration with IBM, hosted the inaugural session of its Data Science Program on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Computer Lab 1. The initiative aims to introduce BCA, BBA, and MCA students to the fundamentals of Data Science while bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices.
The session was inaugurated by Dr. Ashwini Brahme, HOD – MCA, who addressed the students and encouraged them to leverage the opportunities that bridge the gap between academia and industry practices.
Following that, Prof. Prashant Wadkar introduced IBM’s Data Science Program and highlighted its significance in modern career paths in analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. He also emphasized the importance of learning industry-standard tools to remain competitive in today’s job market.
The session was conducted by Mr. Sahil Tongale, Subject Matter Expert, IBM, who delivered an engaging and hands-on training experience. The session introduced students to
1) The foundation of Data Science,
2) The objectives of the course,
3) An Introduction to Python programming,
4) A summary of Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib,
5) A practical demonstration of the implementation of basic Data Science techniques.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Lekha Dixit, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, faculty members, and participants for supporting the event and making it successful.
