Empowering Journeys of Women Through Yashaswi’s Skill Development Program

In fairy tales, a magical wand can change lives in a second, and in reality, such magic often comes from opportunities. Opportunities that equip you with skills, confidence, and direction to chase and live your dreams. For two of our inspiring women, the magical wand was Yashaswi’s Skill Development program.

It is said that the skill development course focuses on the growth and development of individuals. It equips them with practical and theoretical skills, enhancing their employability. With skill enrichment, professionals can develop confidence and navigate complex situations with ease.

Especially for women, skill development courses not only build skills but also lay the foundation for achieving subject-specific knowledge, financial independence, and a livelihood. The case studies mentioned here are from women who belong to a lower socioeconomic background, and through Yashaswi’s Skill Development course, were able to fulfill both personal and family dreams. The course not only empowered them with financial upliftment but also the pride and respect they had long aspired to.

Case Study No.1:
Turning Passion into Profession – Anagha

Anagha belonged to a middle-class family and had always thought of starting her food business, but due to a lack of guidance, she was unable to do so. One day, she was talking with her friend, and during their conversation, Anagha disclosed her wish to be an entrepreneur. The lack of knowledge was making her hesitant to take further steps in that direction. Her friend suggested the course “Food and Beverages” by Yashaswi, affiliated with NSDC, highlighting that it would be extremely beneficial for her career growth.

Without any delay, Anagha enrolled in the course. During her training, she gained practical knowledge in snack-making. She learned the art of making fries, rolls, milkshakes, juices, and various types of coffee, along with fundamental information on operating a business and the requirements of beginning a venture.

After completing the course, with the backing of her family members and Yashaswi’s mentors, she started a cafe, “Street Rolls,” in Pune. At the outset, the business received a few customers, but as time passed, she noticed a rise in the footfall. As the café started running well, she slowly and gradually expanded her food business by starting a food truck at different locations. Currently, her business turnover is approximately ₹1.5 lakh.

Anagha said, “Yashaswi’s mentorship helped her in achieving her vision of becoming an entrepreneur.”

Case Study No.2:
Transforming Skills into Success – Manjiri

Manjiri, a college-going girl with a keen interest in the science of baking, started a home-grown cake and cupcake brand called Manji’s Cake. Her clients were mainly relatives and mutual friends. During this time, she possessed a basic level of understanding of baking. Her curiosity and enthusiasm for baking and confectionery led her to explore baking and culinary skill development programs. One of her surfs led her to join Yashaswi’s “Craft Baker and Confectioner” course.

At first, she used to apply the eyeballing and trial-and-error method for baking and assembling. Through the course, she learned about quality checks and shelf life of ingredients, accurate measurements, judgment of freezing temperatures, ganache making, and minute details of handling cakes and cupcakes, and other confectionery items. The course developed her practical knowledge and also provided information on running a business.

After completing the course, Manjiri was confident in her skillset and resumed selling home-baked confectionery. Initially, she started fetching orders from her immediate friends, and over time, she expanded her business across Pune. Today, her business turnover is approximately ₹60,000–₹70,000 per month, enabling her to fund her college education. The course taught her financial and personal independence at a young age, making her a responsible teenager & and an entrepreneur.

Manjiri quoted, “With Yashaswi, I can learn and earn at the same time, and for that I am extremely thankful towards Yashaswi.”

Conclusion:

Anagha’s and Manjiri’s stories are just a glimpse of Yashaswi’s Skill Development initiative. Till today, we have empowered numerous women & men from socio-economically weaker sections. Skill development courses reveal visible success on the outside, but the deeper, inner growth, particularly for women, is often hidden from view. For them, skilling means having a voice in society, the capacity and ability to earn a livelihood, and through that gaining dignity within family and society. It has been correctly said by our late Prime Minister, Mr. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, “If you educate a man, you educate an individual; however, if you educate a woman, you educate a whole family. Our skill development courses not only bolster skills and education, but for some individuals, they are a way to earn respect, value, and purpose in life.

If you know someone who wants to learn, grow, and achieve their dreams, Yashaswi is here to guide them every step of the way.”
